Research by Robin R Beck shows that the loco was involved in a frame swap with 44 0413-3 (Schichau 3605/1942) in the course of a visit to Meiningen Works in 1974.

Delived to the DRB as No. 44 663, after a storeage stint with the SBZ Military Administration it joined the emerging DR in tge same identity, later being converted to oil-firing and re-numbered 44 2663, then 44 2663-1. After being withdrawn it was first purchased privately by a buyer from Lüneberg and, by 1999, had joined others of the new at Stassfurt. It is non operational.
