Originally delivered during WW2 to DRB (successor to DRG) as No. 44 1681 that then carried this identity though the SBZ 1945-1949 military administration to join, in that latter year, the newly created West German DB. It was later converted to oil firing and given the EDP No. 043 681-6 before retiring towards the end of 1977. It was privately preserved at the centre of it’s last allocation, the railway ‘Mecca’ of Bw Rheine for ten years before being displayed, outside, at Dieringhausen as a non-runner.
