In May 1995 i photographed this loco in a siding at Arnstadt between the station and the depot.

Delivered initially to the then DRB during WW2 as No. 44 1318. it succeeded into the fledgling DR in 1949 with the same identity and working until 1982, though spending another decade as a stationary boiler. With the succession of DB in 1992 it went to the Werrabahn, Eisenach and then, in 1996, to the SEM in Chemnitz. At some time rebuilt to oil firing as No. 44 0338-2.
