Delivery to, and acceptance by DRG - Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft as No.01 173 in Braunschweig 04/1936, the company becoming, from 01/ 1937 DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn. In 08/1945 it found itself in the RBGD - Reichsbahn General Directorate of the British Occupation Zone, Bielefeld; in 1946 the HVE - Main administration of the railways of the American and British occupation area, later the administration for traffic of the united economic area which became the HVEas the Railway Department into the Transport Administration. In 09/1949 it joined the newly created DB - Deutsche Bundesbahn, the locomotive being computerised an renumbered as No. 001 173-4 from 01/1970, running until 11/1973 when withdrawn at Bw Aalen. It was purchased privately in 05/1974 by Günter Knauß, Kesswil, Switzerland but later went to the UEF - Ulmer Eisenbahnfreunde e. V., Ulm, Germany again as No. O1 173 but from late 1975 to 1978 was left in AW Braunschweig after boiler damage. In 1979 to MVT - Museum for Transport and Technology, Berli, and where it was also from 09/1996. It had operational refurbishment in the SEH - Süddeutsches Eisenbahnmuseum Heilbronn e. V., in 2008 for the Ulm society. l
