3237 is one of the famous C32 class locomotives of the NSWGR. Altogether 190 of these engines were built over a 19 year period by several different builders.

Very advanced for their time they attracted much scorn & derision by eminent British Engineers who very quickly had to eat a large serve of humble pie- these engines were an outstanding success and continued on in mainline service well into the diesel era. You could still see a regular steam hauled passenger train hauled by a 32 class in 1970.

These engines were loved by engineman and had a reputation as trouble free, free steaming engines that could easily make 70 mph if the need arose. For many years they were the principal express passenger engine in NSW.

3237 is nearing the end of a very long restoration to full working order and has been trial steamed.
