A locally built locomotive, by James Martin, Gawler. It was owned for 30 years by South Australia Railways then sold in 1921 to Kauri Timber Co, a company having vast interests in Australia & New Zealand. It is claimed it was named KAURI. It worked on their West Australian timber concessions. Later it was bought by Bunning Bros, another huge logging company. Their largest saw mill was at Manjimup. In an accident the loco suffered heavy damage by a run away timber load. Which led to it being rebuilt, only retaining its own wheels, motion & boiler. The main frame & cylinders are from WAGR 131 and tender from WAGR 7. Withdrawn in 1961. Now displayed at the excellent Manjimup, Timber & heritage Park which houses a huge collection of timber milling equipment
