One of four new Krauss locos built 1889 (works 2178 - 2181) used by the firm of John Robb for the construction of Victoria Dock, Melbourne. 1892 Robbs employed 2181 on the Happy Valley Reservoir construction in South Australia. 1903 was sold to East Murchison United Gold Mines, in Leinster, Western Australia. 1919 sold again to Western Machinery Co, Kalgoorlie. No idea years it worked there. Western Machinery in 1963 sold it to Lew Whiteman, who moved it to his estate outside Perth. In 1984 he donated the loco to Bennett Brook Railway. There is photos of it slow restoration. Not sure if this work is being done at a private site. I never saw the locomotive on my visits BBR.

The now very different sister engine, Krauss 2179 is at Albion Park, NSW.
