Having hauled its final trains at the Mid-Hants Railway (Watercress Line) over the weekend, ex Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway 7F Class 2-8-0 No. 53808 has now been withdrawn from service having come to the end of its 10 year boiler ticket.

Built for FS as R.440.08 for Appenine Railway Tunnel construction line. Ministry of Public works took over the work and the line in 1924. Sold to Eritrea in 1937 (This in fact all applies to the entire class of 12 locos)

Delivered to Moscow-Donbass Railway (since 1952 Moscow-Kursko-Donbass Railway) In 1977 it was decommissioned and sent to the Roslavl reserve base, then Komarichi Retired in 1996 2005 as a monument at the Bryansk-Orlovsky train station

Built by Saronno in 1908 works number 322. As Saronno was owned by Esslingen at the time it also had Esslingen works number 3462 The loco is a 4 Cylinder compound working on the Strub rack system

SNFT 1 to 7 were actually built by Saronno in Italy with works numbers 283 to 289. At the time Saronno was owned by Esslingen so they also had Esslingen works numbers 3392 to 3398 Number 2 is Sarrono 284 and Esslingen 3393 not 3392. Information from Jens Merte, Esslingen works list.
