Does not appear to have been numbered as 9802 as SLM works picture https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locomotiva_FS_980#/media/File:Locomotiva_FS_98002.jpg shows it as 98002

This is a 4 cylinder compound, of the Riggenbach system with the upper low pressure cylinders driving the rack pinions and procured by FS to work the steeply graded Paola-Coszenza route. Originally FS No. 9802, later No. 98002 before given it’s current identity. Previously stored at Roma Smistamento depot prior to preservation and display.
