The locomotive was built to 750mm gauge, with no record of enlargement ? The city, Bad Ischl, is in Upper Austria, Austria.

ÖBB No. 698.01 was formerly German Army No. 16752 (1941 - 1945) and ÖStB (1945 -1953) before being renumbered by ÖBB to 698.01 (1953 - 1969). Currently displayed as listed but the owner is Wien Techniches Museum.

No. 698.01 is now plinthed with a carriage outside Bad Ischl Bahnhof.
