I could be wrong, but are you sure the locomotive in the picture is c&nw 175? It seems to have a northern pacific tender. is that a replacement to the original tender or did this locomotive operate on the northern pacific?

The Steam Railroading Institute has just announced on Facebook that 175 has been purchased and is soon to be transported to Owosso to be returned to steam.

i Could be wrong but this engine will no longer be a display locomotive. It’s going to SRI in Owosso.

175 was the last C&NW owned steam locomotive to pull a train for revenue. It was a fan trip from Green Bay to Three Lakes WI and return on Sept 24, 1957.

#175 was brought up to Houghton/Hancock to be put into service on the Keweenaw Central tourist line. She would have replaced #29 when she was in for repairs. Clint Jones owns both the #29 and 175. and from what I was told basicly all the parts that are not on the engines, are stored in a warehouse. Both engines sit at the old smelter plant in Ripley. The 175 has a Northern Pacific tender behind her.
