A video of the engine has surfaced recently, with 2 or 3 people driving it at full throttle, with the blower conntected to the throttle on a small bit of track and derailing it. Along with it not being inspected or fired up in a good few years. It seem to have happened last year in 2020.

A history of this Davenport 0-4-4T and other Louisiana sugar cane locos is in "Down Among the Sugarcane", a book written by W.E. Butler.  I have a copy which is in storage in Florida (I am in New Zealand), but will look on the internet to see if I can find one available.  Mr. Butler was my high school principal (and Sunday School teacher!) and I have spent many childhood hours stoking the boiler and blowing the whistle on the pride of the "K&L Line".  Unfortunately, I have no photos of this engine or the four others that he owned.

This locomotive was moved to southern California when the Butler Estate was settled.  It is owned privately and is in operable condition.
