Delivered to the DRB as No. 50 380, it joined the emerging DR in 1949 and was first locomotive of the Class to be re-built over 15 months from the end of August 1956, emerging from Raw Stendal as No. 50 3501, later in 1970 as No. 50 3501-9. It was withdrawn from service after working as a heating lok over 1986/87 in Meiningen and was preserved by a group here in 1999, from where it is still operational

The loco was running as 50.380 in September 2016. Built in 1940 it was numbered 50.380 until 1959 when it was re-numbered to 50.3501, gaining a check digit for computer records in 1970, as 50.3501-9.

Comparison of its current appearance as 50.380 with earlier photos in the album shows the change from Witte smoke deflectors back to earlier Wagner type.

Sir: The photo of Loc No 503501 is verty nice. However, the title above the Photo should be changed to read: Deutsche Reichsbahn No. 50 3501. The adjective "Deutsch" varies with the definite article of the noun. Example: Deutsches Volk (where the noun Volk is neutral, das Volk). Deutscher Mann (where Mann is masculine, der Mann). Deutsche Reichsbahn (where Reichsbahn has the feminine definite article, die Reichsbahn). So, please remove the letter "s" from Deutsches above the photo.
