When built was used on passenger trains. Number 11 entered service in 1885. Worked for 70 years and withdrawn 1955. Was presented to and displayed at Perth Zoo. Later moved to Bassendean railway museum, being the first locomotive to enter the museum on 23 October 1969.

Another classic British export loco. You can tell immediately that its a Beyer Peacock product - those inclined outside cylinders with a sloping running plate over them and the outside bearing leading pony truck are typical of the BP product at this time. They built variants of this design in various wheel arrangements and gauges at this time - 2-4-0Ts (preserved in the Isle of Man and sectioned in Manchester), 4-4-0Ts (preserved in Spain) and the Metropolitan Railway condensing 4-4-0T for the London Underground, 2-8-0Ts (supplied to Spain), the 4-4-0s displayed in Japan, 4-4-2Ts in Australia, but all with the same look. Do a search on Beyer Peacock and you'll see what I mean.
