The Pioneer ex Tasmanian Tramways Beyer-Garratt, 0-4-0+0-4-0 K1, is making a return visit to its home at the Welsh Highland Railway at Dinas in Gwynedd, North Wales to take part in their Super-power weekend on the 14th and 15th of September 2024.

The Pioneer ex Tasmanian Tramways Beyer-Garratt, 0-4-0+0-4-0 K1 has since returned to her loaned base at the Statfold Barn Railway at Tamworth in Staffordshire.

The Pioneer Beyer-Garratt, 0-4-0+0-4-0 K1 will visit the Welshpool & Llanfair Railway for the very first time to star at their Beyer Bash Gala on the 20th to 22nd of May 2022, which will mark the 120th birthdays of the Welshpool & Llanfair Railway’s two orginal locomotives "The Earl" and "The Countess". K1 will be operating on a short section of 2ft gauge track there during the Gala. K1 is also to return to the Statfold Barn Railway at the end of March 2022.

The Pioneer Beyer-Garratt, 0-4-0+0-4-0 K1 is located back home at the Welsh Highland Railway at Dinas in Gwynedd, North Wales and is operational.

The Pioneer Beyer-Garratt, 0-4-0+0-4-0 K1 has been steamed and under went a test run at the Statfold Barn Railway today which this marks the end of the overhaul as the locomotive is now set to enter service and will make her public debut at the Enthusiast Day at Statfold on the 21st March 2020.

Pioneer Beyer-Garratt, 0-4-0+0-4-0 K1’s overhaul has really progressed as the boiler has been steam tested and the locomotive has been put back together to further tests to be carried out. If all goes well the locomotive should run at Statfold Barn’s Enthusiast Day on the 21st March 2020.

The pioneer Beyer-Garratt, 0-4-0+0-4-0 K1 is to steam again this year in 2020 following the announcement by the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway as a deal with the Statfold Barn Railway to see it return to steam has been given the go ahead. No date has been set for the return of the K1 but it is planned to for the locomotive to appear at a Statfold Barn event first and then will be welcomed home to the Welsh Highland Railway in the late autumn.

It has been announced in a slight change of plan that their is to be a possibility that the pioneer Beyer-Garratt, 0-4-0+0-4-0 K1 will return to steam and run at the Statfold Barn Railway. Garratt K1 is now on a on a ten-year loan to them from the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways which it was originally going to have a cosmetic overhaul for display but now this has changed as both Statfold and the Ffestiniog are now working together towards a deal where the K1 can run at both the Statfold Barn Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway. But nothing official will be set till the new year but both railways have a passion to return the locomotive to steam again.

The pioneer Beyer-Garratt, 0-4-0+0-4-0 K1 has now arrived at the Statfold Barn Railway at Tamworth in Staffordshire. Where it will undergo a cosmetic overhaul for display their for four years.

It has been announced that the pioneer Beyer-Garratt, 0-4-0+0-4-0 K1 is to be relocated to the Statfold Barn Railway at Tamworth in Staffordshire from the end of November 2019. The locomotive will receive a cosmetic overhaul and be put on display their. K1 will remain at Statfold for the time being but will return to the Welsh Highland Railway for a full overhaul back into service again when a suitable slot for overhaul opens up.

This K1 Garratt is currently being tested and/or in operational service at the Welsh Highland Railway.

This is the first Garrett built by Beyer Peacock & Co. It is nearing completion of an overhaul at the Festiniog Railway for the Welsh Highland Railway.
