The ex Caledonian Railway 812 Class Standard 0-6-0 Goods No. 828, is again staying on at the Spa Valley Railway in Kent for the 2026 running season there until the end of the year, as it has been a very popular locomotive for them during its loan to them since April 2022. Its likely No. 828 will return home at the Strathspey Railway at Aviemore in the Highlands of Scotland at the end of the 2026 running season.

The ex Caledonian Railway 812 Class Standard 0-6-0 Goods No. 828, will be remaining on hire to the Spa Valley Railway for another season during 2025.

The former Caledonian Railway 812 Class Standard 0-6-0 Goods No. 828, will celebrate its 125th birthday this year with a special event to mark it at the Spa Valley Railway on the 31st of 31st of August 2024. No. 828 was built in 1899 by the Caledonian Railway Company at their St. Rollox engineering workshops in the Springburn district of Glasgow, Scotland. She is one of 20 memebers of her class which were built at St. Rollox between May and November 1899. No. 828 herself was delivered from the works at the end of August 1899, and is the sole surviver still running in preservation today.

The former Caledonian Railway 812 Class Standard 0-6-0 Goods No. 828 has recently returned to traffic at the Spa Valley Railway following completion of its repairs. No. 828 is now in the last few months of her visit at the Spa Valley Railway as her last workings at the railway will be at their Beer and Cider Festival on 19th to 22nd of October 2023. After this No. 828 will leave the Spa Valley Railway but will remain south of the border as the locomotive is to visit another preserved line South of the Scottish border for 2024.

The former Caledonian Railway 812 Class Standard 0-6-0 Goods No. 828 is still at the Spa Valley Railway where it is having had an issue with a rear driving axle box running hot in service during the summer of 2022 which resulted in the locomotive being withdrawn from use. With help from the Strathspey Railway repairs will get underway in January and February, 2023 to get No. 828 in service again and she will remain on hire to the Spa Valley Railway for another year until October 2023 before returning home to the Strathspey Railway. During that time No. 828 will take part in big events at the Spa Valley Railway such as their Summer Steam Up, Model Railway Weekend and the 12th Real Ale & Cider Festival.

The former Caledonian Railway 812 Class Standard 0-6-0 Goods No. 828 is to head south of the UK to Kent for the very first time for a visit to the Spa Valley Railway from late March to October 2022. During its visit to the Spa Valley the locomotive will take part in their Spring Steam Up on 2nd & 3rd April and will also appear alongside other locomotives during their Summer Steam Up on 18th & 19th June and their 25th Anniversary Gala event from 26th to 29th August and finally at their 11th Real Ale & Cider Festival which takes place from 7th to 9th October before heading back to Scotland. Also No. 828 will be running on other scheduled operating days as well.

While 34053 Sir Keith Park is out of action for a boiler swap, 828 will visit the Spa Valley Railway from March to October next year to work trains alongside 2890 Douglas. She will take part in 3 major events as well as scheduled services on other dates.

The former Caledonian Railway 812 Class Standard 0-6-0 Goods No. 828 has passed its final official in the frames steam test today and now has a fresh 10 year boiler ticket and is set to begin test runs before re-entering service at the Strathspey Railway.

The boiler overhaul of Caledonian Railway 0-6-0 812 Class Standard Goods No. 828 has just passed its steam test after an amazingly short overhaul. This now gives No. 828 a fresh 10 year boiler ticket in one of the shortest medium-size boiler turnarounds in the preservation era. The boiler will soon return to the mainframes of No. 828 soon.

With the Strathspey Railway not running trains till at least the end of April dur to unforeseen circumstances the boiler overhaul of Caledonian Railway 0-6-0 812 Class Standard Goods No. 828 is now underway a lot earlier than planned.

The ex Caledonian Railway Jumbo Goods 0-6-0 No. 828 is due to be withdrawn from service in April 2020 but there has been some good news as the locomotive is in generally good mechanical condition the overhaul will focus principally on renewing its 10 year boiler ticket. Which should see No. 828 return to traffic again in the Autumn of 2020 and will then run for around five years before being withdrawn again for a heavy overhaul.

Former Caledonian Railway Jumbo Goods 0-6-0 No. 828 has had its boiler ticket extended to April 2020 which should give the locomotive one last full season at its Strathspey Railway before overhaul then.

It has been announced that Caledonian Railway Jumbo Goods 0-6-0 No. 828 is to visit the Bo ness and Kinneil Railway as the star guest for there Steam Gala weekend on the 3rd and 4th of November 2018. This will be 828 s first visit there and will be a special as it will be paired up with newly overhauled Caledonian Railway 0-4-4T No. 419 which will debut in to traffic at the Gala. The two locomotives will also be paired with the SRPS s two Caledonian Railway carriages during the event for photographic opportunities and a photo charter. This will also be the first time that two Caledonian Railway locomotives will be seen together for the first time in preservation.

After long repairs to its axel boxes and the fitting of new tyres to its tender 828 is now back in service at the Strathspey Railway in time for the 2017 season there.

828 is currently having axelbox repairs done and should be back running at the Strathspey Railway later this year or in 2017.
