The boiler of BR Standard 4MT 2-6-4T No. 80135 has been moved to Heritage Boiler Steam Services Ltd. in Liverpool for work to be carried out on it which will help No. 80135 steam again soon.

The overhaul on BR Standard 4MT 2-6-4T No. 80135 has been given the go ahead by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway following a generous legacy from Mr Clifford Luff. Engineering companies are now being tendered to manufacture a new inner firebox as well as a complete boiler overhaul. When complete No. 80135 will be mainline registered again to work trains to Whitby on Network Rail’ Esk Valley Line.

Well, it had to happen. This popular loco has been withdrawn as it has reached the end of its boiler ticket and now awaits a major overhaul, including a new firebox. Still clocked up over 7000 miles in 2007.

This is my favourite engine, 80135, but i was wondering if anyone knew anything about Hudswell Clarke and Co.'s Renishaw Ironworks No.6, if so, could you put the info into the Hudswell Clarke & Co. section please. Cheers

One of a number of preserved class British Railways Standard 4MT tank engines, 80135 wears BR Brunswick green livery unlike most similar locos, which are in black. Working on the London Tilbury and Southend line, 80135 was sent to the famous Barry scrapyard in South Wales when withdrawn from service. She was bought from there for use on the NYMR and has seen many miles of service since restoration. The picture shows the engine at the summit of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway's line, having climbed up the 2% grade from Grosmont, heading south towards Pickering.
