The BR Standard 9F 2-10-0 No. 92245, one of the few remaining Crewe built 9F locomotives remaining just has since left the Barry Railway and has been relocated to NL Engineering (North West) at Blackrod near Manchester in Lancashire, where it maybe worked on or in storage there??

The boiler of 9F 92245 has been sold to Jeremy Hosking of Locomotive Services and is now at LNWR Heritage at Crewe where its being overhauled for use as a spare boiler for sister 9F 92212 which is due for overhaul in June 2019. As for 92245 it self the remains of the locomotive will be on display as part of a educational exhibit at the Barry Tourist Railway.

It seems that the sectioning option is not the way forward, as the boiler has been moved to storage at Peak Rail, Rowsley. It is considered to be too good to waste on sectioning, but who will use it eventually is not known.

What happens to the chassis now, I wonder.

The remains of this loco which had a tragically short working life are to be sectioned for display. There is little else to be done with it as there are so many parts missing that restoration to working order would involve massive expense.

Part of the Barry 10 group of locos bought for a propsal for a Welsh Railway Centre which never got going.

As Phil Hortons photo shows, it is little more than an ex scrapyard tenderless hulk and may end up in the proposed Barry Rail Centre museum.
