The new home for former Deutsche Bundesbahn (German Federal Railways) 2-6-2T No. 64.305 will be in East Germany near Leipzig. Also here is a bit more history on No. 64.305, No. 64.305 first arried at the Nene Valley Railway back in 1977 after a short spell at the Severn Valley Railway and operated at the Nene Valley Railway during the 1980s. In 1988 No. 64.305 loaned its steam airbrake pump for use on No. 4472 (60103) "Flying Scotsman" during her visit to Australia from 1988 to 1989. No. 64.305 has been in storage at the shed at Wansford for a number of years now since it was taken out of service in the late 1980s and will be on display in the yard at Wansford on the Nene Valley Railway for the last time during the weekend of the 11th and 12th of March 2023. After this the locomotive will leave the Nene Valley Railway and the UK and return to her homeland of Germany where it will move to its new home near Leipzig in East Germany for restoration.

The former Deutsche Bundesbahn (German Federal Railways) 2-6-2T No. 64.305 will be leaving the Nene Valley Railway and the UK as it is to be repatriated back to Germany as it has been sold to new owners out there. No. 64.305 has been at the Nene Valley Railway for almost 40 years, as the locomotive first arrived from Germany in the 1970s first being preserved at the Severn Valley Railway, but was to big to run there so it was moved to the Nene Valley Railway where it ran for most of the 1980s. Having been in storage since then No. 64.305 is now being prepaired for its return to Germany and its new home and will be leaving the Nene Valley Railway soon.

Delivered to the DRG, soon to become the DRB as No. 64 305, it succeeded during 1949 into the DB in the same identity. Causing confusion in some quarters, it received in 1970, boiler No. 15525/1935 from K-M, München as well as being re-numbered 064 305 until withdrawn from Bw Weiden in 1974, the following yeargoing to the NVR in Wansford, UK.

Ex DB locomove No. 64 305 was, I believe, actually built by Krupp, Essen as their No. 1308 in 1934. The build number also corresponds to a later locomotive (No. 64 317 1320/1934) also preserved in Frankfurt (Oder).

The German Tank locomotive DB No. 64.305 is currently in the loco shed at Wansford in storage. It will need a lot of work needed doing to it for it to steam again which may be long term.
