It is very hard to understand your note, Saul, but it would be an idea to address your ideas to the owners, unless you are in a position to finance a "new build" loco yourself. We understand that the loco will return to operational condition when it has been fully assessed and when the finance is available. The owners are keen to receive any contributions towards that end.

The former Lambton, Hetton and Joicey Collieries Robert Stephenson & Co. built 0-6-2T No. 5 is set to return to steam again for the first time in decades as the Lambton Locomotive Trust who own No. 5 and her sister No. 29 have announced that the locomotive is to be overhauled and put back to work again at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and the heritage railway circuit. The work on No. 5 will require a boiler lift and re-tube along with new stays on the firebox and work on the tubeplate and a new smokebox. The tyres will need turning and the left-hand steam chest will require extensive repair or replacement. The biggest problem will be the crank axle which will need replacing, but it is hoped that the one from No. 29 sutiably reduced in size can be used.

No5 was built for the Lambton, Hetton and Joicey Collieries. No colliery yard shunter, she hauled coal trains over the North Eastern's metals down to coal loading points in Sunderland. A main line engine, then. She was withdrawn by the National Coal Board and passed into private ownership on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Currently awaiting an overhaul at Grosmont.
