Having been in storage at the East Lancashire Railway for a while now, the ex War Department Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 75050 "Norman", is now leaving the railway and relocating to Southern Locomotives Ltd’s restoration site at Sellindge in Kent, where its overhaul will continue until there is suitable space made at Herston Works next to the Swanage Railway.

With the East Lancashire Railway busy overhauling and maintaining its own locomotive fleet and the lack of other outside contractors with capacity to carry out the work needed to finish the overhaul, the ex War Department Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 75050 "Norman" is to leave the East Lancashire Railway and be moved to Southern Locomotives Ltd’s workshop at Herston next to the Swanage Railway in Dorset for its overhaul to be carried and completed by its owners there.

The ex War Department Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 75050 "Norman" has now left Bryn Engineering Services and has relocated to the East Lancashire Railway at Bury in Lancashire for final completion of its overhaul for its owners Southern Locomotives Ltd. which is due to be completed this year in 2023, after which the locomotive will then go out on hire.

The ex War Department Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 75050 "Norman" is located at Bryn Engineering Services at Bolton in Lancashire. Where it is being overhauled for Southern Locomotives Ltd. for use at the Spa Valley Railway from 2021.

The ex War Department Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 27 "Norman" is to be relocated to the Spa Valley Railway at Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent as its owners Southern Locomotives Ltd have signed a partnership with them for the locomotive to be based there for a long term period from late 2020. The locomotive will be turned out in WD Longmoor Blue livery of the Longmoor Military Railway with running number No. 75050 as it did when the loco was based there in 1944.

Former War Department Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 27 "Norman" has now left the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway and has been moved to Bryn Engineering at Wigan near Manchester for its overhaul for its owners Southern Locomotives Ltd. It is hoped its overhaul will be done at the end of next year in 2019 and then No. 27 will take residence at the Swanage Railway in Dorset along with the rest of Southern Locomotives Ltd fleet there.

Former War Department Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 27 "Norman" has been withdrawn from service as its 10 year boiler ticket ran out in early January. Its owners Southern Locomotives Limited are in discussing on its overhaul with a third party. Its unknown if will be done at the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway or elsewhere?

Currently running as British Railways 68005, representing a loco from the group of locos once operated by BR, although this was not one of them.

The entry below is wrong. #27 left the KESR in the mid 1990s. #24 "William H Austen" is still #24!!!
