The former Tramway de Pithiviers à Toury (ROD) Alco built 2-6-2T No. 1265 "Mountaineer" is set to return to steam again for the first time since 2006 as its to be overhauled by a group of young volunteers of the Ffestiniog Railway. No. 1265 will retain its post-1983 rebuild appearance and will be converted to back to coal-firing, having been modified to burn oil in 1972. The plan is to overhaul the locomotive at the Ffestiniog Railway’s Glan-y-Pwll yard.

Built for the Railway Operating Division (ROD) as their No. 1265 in France, this became No. 3-23 of the TPT following WW1, until the line closed in 1964.

The "Alco-Cooke Construction Number List" indicates that Construction Numbers 57092 through 57191, Road Numbers 1201 through 1300 were sold to the "British War Office" and shipped during the February - May period of 1917. All of the units were built as 2-6-2T's and had a "Specified" total weight of 38,000 pounds. (This is not necessarily the "Actual" total weight)
