Firefly is an 0-6-0 tank engine built in 1952 (construction number 1864) by Hudswell Clarke, of Leeds. She worked at Newmarket Silkstone Colliery, Wakefield and Whitwood Colliery (where she was “Whitwood No.6”) Sometime after withdrawal she was at Steamtown Carnforth until moving to Colwyn Bay, North Wales in 1988 as part of a Railway Museum, now closed. A picture of her at this location in 1998 is to be found at www.zen70752.zen.co.uk/bat/out/rover/rover3.htm . In March 2000 the museum building at Colwyn Bay was demolished and a local newspaper announced that the locomotive was to be taken to RMS Locotech Dewsbury for restoration before delivery to the Dartmoor Railway. On the 29th July 2007 her dismantled parts were to be seen dumped at Meldon Quarry, near Okehampton
