The Sioux City Railroad Museum has teamed up with American Heartland Railroad Society to restore it to operating condition.

It says restoration not display for a good reason. This locomotive is fully restored but, lacks a Steam inspection by the FRA. They are not doing the $10k+ inspection because it would start the clock on the 1472 day rebuild. They currently have no place to viably run so they would use all the time in storage.

Great Northern Steam Locomotive 1355 and the Siouxland Historical Railroad Association is located at the Milwaukee Road Roundhouse (Built 1917) in Riverside Section of Sioux City.

10/8/04  Iowa State namination review committee will consider listing#1355to be put on the national register of historical places.
