There's only one problem with running number 8 at the Royal Gorge......she is narrow gauge. Royal Gorge is standard gauge. It would be great to see steam in the Royal Gorge and at one point I heard ex LS&I 2-8-0 #19 was going to the Royal Gorge, but that the deal fell through and Grand Canyon ended up with her. Anyone know if this is true?

Her fate is looking pretty good because this locomotive is going to the Royal Gorge Route.  That Railroad might need this big engine because it is a long train on th Royal Gorge Route.  This locomotive could be fired up any time but she is found too big for daily operations on the Georgetown Loop.  Since the Railway in George town is shutting and the Royal Gorge Route will be getting steam locomotives and this would make the perfect locomotive for daily operations there.

West Side 8 is currently being parted out to keep the other 2 shays running.  A very sad fate
