This loco is not quite the same as C.R. 828. The latter has a firebox that sits neatly between the 2nd and 3rd axles (it was the freight counterpart of the Dunalastair 4-4-0) whereas this loco has a firebox with an inclined foundation ring that sits over the rear axle.

Despite many reports on the net that this loco has been scrapped, this is not the case and it has been donated to the Stoomcentrum Maldegem who intend to restore it, probably to full working order.

Robin R Beck's album photo shows the loco when it was displayed at Charleroi Sud station, after which it went into store at La Louviere depot. The loco has an obvious British appearance with its simple lines and inside cylinders. In fact it is a relative of the Caledonian Railway 0-6-0s designed by MacIntosh for that line.

It would be useful to compare this engine with the surviving MacIntosh loco preserved in working order at Aviemore, Caledonian Railway No 828.
