Withdrawn in June 1971. Purchased by Gippsland Folk Museum, in the town of Moe where nearly 30 years of outdoor display in a wet climate did a lot of damage. The tender was so wasted it was scrapped. From 2003 some dismantling was done on site for possible restoration. Instead in 2005 the parts were removed to Newport Workshops. The boiler was to badly damaged and it also was scrapped.

A project was started to use parts of K154 in making an operational N class steam loco. The frames have already been altered. A boiler from Swan Hill has been sourced, it being in a better condition than those still dumped at Newport Works. The project may be on hold, or just space was needed in the main workshops as the frames are now stored in the none public area of the works.
