This picture was taken before e we sold it. We purchased it in 1984 at the Ritchie bros auction. I miss seeing it sitting under the shed on my way to work for many years.

3/1914 I believe is the correct year this locomotive was built and also it originally was owned by Beaufort County Lumber Company in North Carolina

Status should be changed to stored/restoration. The locomotive has been examined and appears that before it can return to service it will require a new boiler.

This locomotive operated as Argent Lumber Company Number 1, and was brought to Long Beach Resort in Panama City Beach, FL, in 1965. I operated this engine over 9 summer seasons at the Petticoat Junction and Ghost Town Railroad, and accumulated more than 20,000 miles as engineer. I participated in the restoration in 1975, at which time the wood cab was added. You can find photos of the train by searching for Petticoat Junction Amusement Park, Panama City Beach, FL. Many steam fans got their first cab ride with me, and a lot of ex-steam engineers were given one more time at the throttle! I turned out the fire the last time for paying passengers for PJ> on Labor Day, 1984.

Is this engine really operational? I got my first cab ride ever on it back when it was at Petticoat Junction.

This was Argent Lumber Co. #1 before going to Petticoat Juntion Railroad in Panama City, FL.  Entered tourist service burning coal and was converted to oil later.  Also, entered tourist service with a metal cab which was later changed over to a wooden one.
