QJ 7104 which was built at Datong Works in 1986, had worked in the Changchun area of China Rail from new in 1986 until 1996. It then went to Da’an Bei to see out its final working days on China Rail, the Jitong Railway picked it up in 2002, where 7104 has spells shedded at Chabuga and Daban, and was among the last twenty active steam locomotives working between Daban and Chabuga right till the very end of steam on the Jitong Line in December 2005. Since the end of steam on the Jitong Railway, QJ 7104 has been used for spare parts for sister QJ locomotives 7119 and 7038 which were part of a small heritage fleet at Daban. As of 2023, 7104 is still at Daban today but is in storage in one of the sheds at the Depot with 7119 and 7038.

QJ 7104 has worked right till the end of steam on the Jitong Railway in December 2005 and has also survived as 7104 is on static display at Daban Depot.
