This loco started its career for the Standard Mining Co. of Wallace,Idaho. The loco was originally air-compressed, to run underground in the silver mines. It was ordered in Sept. and delivered in Dec. 1896. The Standard sometime around 1916 called it quits. The Hecla Mining Co. acquired the loco sometime after that, and ran it underground till 1935.Major work was done this year in the Hecla shops to covert the air tank to a firetube boiler. The gauge was also changed from 18 to 24 inch. They had made a sidetanker out of it. It was used to shunt materials around on the surface. Sometime after 1935 (don't know when, I'm still digging) the Sullivan Mining Co. acquired the loco from the Hecla. They ran the loco till the summer of 1950. In July 1951, Bert F. Rudolph had written his first letter to Harry Graff Jr. of Sullivan Mining Co. about acquring one of the locomotives to be scraped.By Oct., Bert had paid his $200.00 for it. In the spring of 1952 it was trucked to his place and stored in a garage and never running it. Bert passed in 1992 and his good friend John Bradley acquired the loco from his wife.
