In March 2013 this loco was in a workshop in Leon for restoration.

This was the first of this class of 95 locomotives built 1925-1931 by the MTM for the MZA and this became their No. 1701, only gaining it’s RENFE identity in 1941. Later members of the class were distinctly modified by the MZA into five separate groups.
