Built by the YEC, Sheffield for the then Spanish Northern (Norte) Railway as their No. 4301, when sub-contracting for Babcock & Wilcox, Bilbao as their works construction No. 101. After a relatively short working life this, as RENFE No. 240-3001 and fourteen other members of the class, finally worked at the head of coal trains around Ponferrada where several local locomotives are now preserved.

his locomotive was constructed by the Yokshire Engine Company of Sheffield, UK. Cylinders (3): 520 x 660mm Driving wheels: 1560mm Grate area: 4.6 sq metres Boiler pressure: 13kg/sq cm
