Originally delivered to DRG as Kriegslok No. 52 3417, through SBZ 1945-1948, followed by DR for a short time until 1951. It then went to the JŽ as No 15-253, eventually succeeding on to Slovenian Railways (SHS), then latterly stored for several years in Jesenice, before being moved to the large railway museum in Ljubljana.

33.253 was previously stored alongside 33.339 at the depot in Jesenice before moving to Ljubljana.
