The ex Great Northern Railway (Ireland) Q Class 4-4-0 No. 131 "Uranus", has been withdrawn from service for overhaul which is now underway at the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland’s base at Whitehead.

relocated to Dublin Connolly and remains operational. No steam operations in Northern Ireland for the foreseeable future. Currently RPSI safety case has expired and also no NIR staff currently passed on steam.

Builder is correct, Neilson Reid & Co. was formed in 1898.

Our thanks to Dale W Fickés who responded almost immediately to our request for a better photo. The current primary and a couple of album shots shows this loco in the workshops at Whitehead in May 2022.

A visit to the website of the RPSI shows that the loco was granted an all Ireland certification for main line use in 2022. What we need is a new photo, please. Any offers?
