Was used in the record breaking 1905 Scott Special on the segment between Needles, California, and Seligman, Arizona. In 1955, 1010 was refurbished and used for a television re-enactment of the Scott Special for the "Death Valley Days" program about the special train. This locomotive was also prominently featured in a 1958 episode of the TV series Sky King, entitled "Stop That Train"

You would be correct, My last calculation was way over, but thanks for that. Its better to know the correct info. My time in southern califonia will be comming to an end soon, and I should be able to get back to my job with the state museum. I will inform you all of any changes to this engines status.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe a mile a minute is 60mph (60 minutes in an hour divided by 60 miles an hour)

As for the 98mph, yes this speed was clocked, although I have seen some webpages claim up to 106mph, but this is unconfirmed...
