S.D. Warren 2 is running again, in a gorgeous factory style with Baldwin olive green. It’s been running for about a month at the time of this posting.

As I said on my previous note on the WW&F #9 that I was just up in Maine about a month ago, and I saw a lot of the narrow gauge railroads up there, including Boothbay Railway Village. I took a tour of the repair shop there, and saw the boiler of the S.D. Warren engine under repair. I think they are repairing the old boiler, not fabricating a new one. Also, on that day, the master mechanic was in a hurry putting in rivets and welding in any leaks there were that he had found with the water test. For the FRA was coming the next day or the day after to do the engines hydrostatic test. I think that engine is going to be back on the rails sooner than in a few years, possibly based on what they were saying, they may even have it back by around around this time next year! After that, they also have a Davenport that the master mechanic might have an interest in making operational.

Hi According to my 470 railroad club newsletter dated April 2016 the Boothbay Railway Village Museum has been working on this locomotive. Sense the boiler has a small gasoline engine in it. A new boiler would have to be built. The museum is hoping to have the locomotive under Steam with in the next few years . With volunteer and employee help and dedicated donors #2 could be running .
