Former Penrhyn Slate Quarry Hunslet 0-4-0ST "Winifred" is also visiting Bressingham Steam & Gardens in Norfolk for the first time to take part in their Heritage Steam Gala from the 4th to 6th of May 2019.

Word from the Bala Lake Railway is that Winifred is under overhaul now, having been disassembled within the last two months.

Delightful little Hunslet quarry engine, one of many used in the slate quarries of North Wales up to the 1960's. As the Slate industry declined, they were sold off and many have found new homes in narrow gauge railways in the UK. Note the second wagon behind the loco in the photo with its double flanged wheels - typical of the Welsh slate quarries. The locos didn't have this feature.
