I believe this locomotive is the only operational true mallet tender engine in the country.

Skookum had her first test fire back on September 20th. The boiler jacket installation was also underway at that time, so she is much closer to being finished. Once finished, she will participate in a photo charter in March then relocated to her new home in California.

I've learned that the new owner would have its restoration complete in 2009.

Deep River #7 was sold to Chris Baldo of Willits, Ca in late 2004/early 2005.  The locomotive running grear was moved to Tillamook, OR for restoration.  The boiler and tender were relocated to Centralia WA for similar treatment.  When the locomotive is operational it is expected that she will operate on the Oregon Coast Secnic RR (www.ocsr.net) for a period of time.

#7 is sold and transfered to willits to be restored and probely back operating on the california western railroad with the 2-8-2 #45 or just be on diplayed at the museum in willits. Mt. Rainier Scenic RR sold the locomotive in january 2005. #7 might treated better in willits instead of mineral.
