One of the volunteers at Heber named Parker Wilson decided to champion a cosmetic restoration of this engine this summer. Several other local railfans including myself are joining him in this effort. We have done two work days so far in June and will take a few more to finish the repaint work before the season is over One of my friends Josh Bernard has began a short documentary film on this work he will put on YouTube. A link to his early preview can be found here: https://youtu.be/1YJLeDAk0aw

The tender of this locomative has been cosmetically restored, with the words "Welcome to Heber Valley Railroad, Great Experiences Await." The locomotive sadly is still in a sad state, it is very rusty and still needs a lot of work.

John E Rimmasch: in response to your 2003 note, there has been NO restoration work on the 300-it has and always will be on display, and even if the railroad were to restore it to operating condition, it would be too small to pull their loads

COLUMBIA Steel no. 300 has been moved from behind the depot to near the driveway to enter the parking lot, by some old freight cars, as the bamberger coach has been sold to fund the restoration of no. 75
