Central Pasto Viejo number 8 LUISA was new to sugar railway of Central Pasto Viejo of Puerto Rico. Built to 30 inch gauge. Within a year regauged to 1000mm and moved to Central Juncos railway. In 1939 was converted to burn oil. Operated on other Puerto Rican sugar railways. Still carried number 8 until renumbered to E462 when C. Brewer de PR sugar company took ownership. In 1968 purchased by an private individual. Received name LUISA (owners wifes name). From 1971 operating on the FC Historic de PR in Fajardo. When this railway closed in 1975 was probably the last operating steam loco in Puerto Rico. Moved to the Museo de Transporte in Caracas, Venezuela. The Ferrocarril Historic de PR was a tourist railway. Using a 4.6 mile branch of the Central Juncos sugar mill railway. Ran very successful steam hauled passenger trains for a few years. Only on Sunday in the cane harvest time (January to June). Three days a week rest of year. The railway also had 2 steam locos being overhauled for operation plus 5 donated steam locos for display only. The decline in sugar production saw many branch lines close. In 1975 a very destructive hurricane (Eloisa) caused so much damage this branch was not worth rebuilding so the tourist railway had to close.
