Ferrocarril de La Guaira Caracas was a railway built to connect the city of Caracas to its port of La Guaira. Even though only 7 miles from the sea, Caracas is at an altitude of 3,000 feet so a 23 mile railway had to be built. 8 steam locos supplied by Nasmyth Wilson & Co. allowed the railway to start operations in 1883. Once the line was operating a further 4 locos came from Beyer Peacock. Then a final order in 1890 with six locos from Nasmyth Wilson & Co. Number 15 being from this group. There were 9 stations on the line. The line was electrified in 1928. Passengers stopped being conveyed in 1946. Railway closed in 1951.
