This Bell built geared steam locomotive is the only known existing geared steam loco built by Bell. The Bell Locomotive Works, New York made oil fired geared steam locomotives. Their claim was they could burn any cheap oil, so cheap to run and no spark or ash was produced making them safe for use in forests, oil refineries etc. Not fireless but much safer than coal or wood fired. This loco was used at Shells Petroleum refinery in Venezuela. The CPC on the loco tanks is for Caribbean Petroleum Company, acquired by Shell in 1912. CPC built a refinery in 1917 at San Lorenzo. This processed oil from the Mene Grande field becoming the first refinery to export oil from Venezuela
