No. 8 has been restored (for the second time) and was trucked to Cisneros Antioquia in December 2024. It was steamed up and shunted back and forth in Cisneros to great enthusiasm - hopeful it will have a great future in 2025. YT: toUFH-2zfX4 YT: av1DlORVb4o

Hello There Jacob, the N8 was built as a Coal Burner and stayed all her Life as a Coal Burner, it was never converted to burn oil. It was completely restored in 2012 but has been outside just 5 or 6 times in total.

I saw No. 8 hauling a train from Sabana station to Usquen station in Bogotá in September 2015. She is definitely burning coal.

This engine is indeed a coal burner, the FNC engines all used to burn oil. They owned 3 1947 Baldwin 2-8-2s and a 4-8-0. First the 75 (2-8-2) was converted, then the 85 (2-8-2) and finally the 72 (2-8-2). The 4-8-0, #76 stayed oil. However, after a few years they also converted her. The number 8, however was restored as a coal burner, where the others were restored to burn oil in the 1990s and converted she was restored to burn coal. She is almost certainly operational, she should have been finished in early 2012.

From the picture it looks as if the loco burns coal, a rareity in South America.
