Out of use for several years (i.e. NOT operational) it was sent from Wernigerode to DB Meinigen Works for renovation and overhaul in March 2023 and is expected to return to service on the HSB in 2024.

As Phil points out elsewhere,this was originally NWE No. 12 only becoming DR No. 99 5902 post December 1949, subsequently 099 111-7 only in 1992. It went to HSB ownership from February 1993 and has run in its various guises, along with sister locomotives, since then.
