This was one of the last Kreislok’s delivered direct to the DRB (successor to DRG) near the end of WW2, as No. 52 5803. It remained in that identity with the SBZ Military Administration 1945-1949, in the latter year being allocated to the emerging DR. That railway re-built the locomotive 1958-1962 with a more powerful boiler and then gave it the No. 52 8137, later No 52 8137-3. Before complete withdrawal in 1987 it served as a stationary boiler and was first preserved privately by an enthusiast from Lüneburg for the railway museum at Bw Salzwedel until 1995, and moved to Staßfurt the following year, and to whom it now belongs.

52 8137-3 was one of a line of BR50s and 52s stored along the roadside at the rear of Bw Stassfurt in 1995. It seemed not to have moved by September 2003 when it was still alongside the road at the rear of Bw Stassfurt during the Dampfest on 27 September 2003
