The Association for the Preservation of Locomotives at Maschinenfabrik Esslingen e.V. (FEME) provides additional information for this locomotive: - It was the last T3 built by Maschinenfabrik Esslingen and was used exclusively in Maschinenfabrik Esslingen as a factory locomotive. It therefore did not receive a company number from either the K.W.St.E. or the Reichsbahn - Locomotive numbers over time: "ME1", then "Werklok 1" and "ME4092" - Decommissioned March 13, 1964 - On display in a playground in Kornwestheim from 1967 - returned to FEME (with severe corrosion damage) in 1994 - Reprocessing began in 2002 - New boiler 2013 - registered in the EBA national vehicle register as “89 412”. - under long-term but constant successful processing by members of the FEME with the aim of operational readiness Registration as "89 357" cannot be confirmed. "89 357" is the Esslingen c/n 3258, built in 1903

Sorry I beg to differ. ME 3258 was Eürttembergische Staatsbahn T3 938. ME 4092 OF 1922 was indeed built for its own use as works shunter. First noted as preserved in 1968 it has had several homes. It is now in Stuttgart-Obertürkheim being restored again in the premises of the firm Paule. Its final home is still to be decided. Yes it was "89 357" for a while.

Built by Esslingen 3258 in 1903, but carries false plates 4092 in 1923. Last recorded as stored. In preservation days, also carried a false number of 89-357.
