76 arrived at the Steam Railroading Institute in July 2005, and is currently under restoration with a goal of operation in 2007.  The engine is being worked on as time allows.  1225 and 75 get top priority most of the time.

So in short, change the location to Steam Railroading Institute, Owosso, MI, and change status to Restoration

From www.mstrp.com The Steam Railroading Institute (SRI) announces the purchase of steam locomotive No. 76 (2-8-0) from Jerry J. Jacobson. The locomotive was part of the Ohio Central Railroad Steam Department’s collection. A history of that locomotive can be viewed at the website of the Ohio Central Railroad Steam Department. SRI will fulfill the original plan of the Ohio Central Steam Department by restoring and operating this locomotive for passenger activities. No. 76’s lower operating costs, compared to the museum’s 400 ton Pere Marquette No. 1225, will allow SRI to offer its visitors regularly scheduled steam train rides and the chance to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the steam era.

This locomotive was bought by Sloan Cornell for his Penn View Mountain RR. in Blairsville, PA in the late 1960's to supplement an ex Duquense Slag Co. 0-6-0. He later bought an ex Conrail branch and formed the Gettysburg Rwy. The 76 was used as a back up locomotive at this operation until it was sold.

#77 does indeed survive on the Alberta Prairie, renumbered to her original JLC&E #41. Being from Amory, having been acquainted with the Carlisle brothers, and seeing the locomotive run on the Mississippian again in the 1980s (my father was one of the principals in the Magnolia State Railway), I'll always think of her as #77. [She also has her own entry at this website, under Mississippian #77.]

Good to see this one again. I last read about the Bentonite Road in one of Ron Zeil's books, where 76 and sister 77 were operated by two brothers. The locos were ex-Frisco, with the Frisco's distinctive number plates on the smokebox. Does 77 survive?
