Barrow Hill Roundhouse is the last working railway locomotive roundhouse in the UK and a top railway centre with both railway-themed events and non-railway activities as well.

The Derwent Valley Light Railway was a privately owned standard-gauge railway in North Yorkshire, England, and was unusual in that it was never nationalised, remaining as a private operation all its life. It ran between Layerthorpe on the outskirts of York to Cliffe Common near Selby. A half a mile section of it has been preserved at the Yorkshire Museum of Farming at Murton Park and trains run from Sundays and Bank Holiday weekends from Easter to the end of September and operated Santa Specials at Christmas.
