It's hard to see on this photo, but here's another interesting mechanical layout to consider. 2-6-4T SJ No.J 1338 is a loco with inside cylinders but with the valve gear outside - like some Italian built locos on FS. Inside Falun depot on 3 July 2019

A close up of the front end shows the tail rod of the piston valve inside the frame, just below the running plate. The air brake pump is situated where the cylinder would be on an outside cylindered loco. What the red gas cylinder is for escapes me, but it seems to be part of the normal equipment.

1338's number plate seems pretty normal, anyway.
