'Northiam' departs from Haverthwaite station on 19th June 2025 whilst on loan to the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway. The Kent & East Sussex Railway (K&ESR) presents some of its locos in their own livery and numbering rather than restoring them into one of their historic identities. This is in keeping with the history of the K&ESR which had many second hand locos during its operational life.

Inside the cab of 'Northiam' on 19th June 2025 whilst on loan to the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway. A typical British industrial locomotive footplate. Right hand drive was traditional, but many more modern main line locomotives were left hand drive which improved sighting of the signals..

The eccentrics of Stephenson link valve gear between the frames of 'Northiam' on 19th June 2025 whilst on loan to the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway. Note the balance weight which owes its shape to the need to fit below the boiler.
